In which we consider the concept of intertextuality - how texts relate to, use and abuse each other, ownership of texts, and how different versions of a story, and different outlooks, play off each other throughout history and literature. This module focuses mainly on drama.
We also explore ways of portraying character, learning from one of the great experts: Charles Dickens, and study suspense in drama as well as the idea of social relations and whether society is and should be "one for one" or "all for all", in J.B. Priestly's An Inspector Calls.

An Inspector Calls
The year 8 Drama course delves into the short, fast-paced intrigue of J.B. Priestly's An Inspector Calls. A fascinating tale that combines detective fiction, suspense, family matters and socio-political commentary; this drama never fails to captivate its audience.
In class we watch the 1954 movie version of this play. Find below two other adaptations, as well as two study pieces, as well as the comprehensive BBC Bitesize study section.
