Governing documents
What we spend our time learning in class is in part regulated by the National Curriculum, Lgr 22. It may seem a dire read, but it makes good sense to have a look at what it is we are supposed to be learning and why.
The curriculum is made up of several parts that discuss the intent of the curriculum, its goals and assessment targets. When you meet this information in class, it is usually expressed as learning goals, i.e. what we strive for you to learn as we work with a certain task, and assessment plans, i.e. what I, the teacher, will be looking at when grading your work, and what I expect to see.
My set-up is that you get a rough plan for a module, with information about what we will be doing, what parts will be most important for grading, and a description of the levels to attain.
